This site was originally occupied by the "Textile Building", built in 1901. After it burned, a very similar Tompkins Hall was built in 1914, again designed as a textile building. It was enlarged in 1924. I'm not sure if this photo is before or after the 1924 renovation. The tower(designed for a water tank but never used) was shortened during another renovation in 1981.
