The foundations of Lassiter Mill still stand on Crabtree Creek. The first of four mills was constructed here in 1764, the last of which was built in 1908 by Cornelius Lassiter and burned in 1958. The beach here was a popluar swimming spot in the early 20th century. This photo is a class field trip from N.C. State, around WWI.
